Primary Curriculum
At The ABC International School, our Primary Curriculum (Key Stages 1 and 2) offers a well-rounded and engaging learning experience that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and academic excellence.
Students develop strong foundations in core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Computing, while also exploring a wide range of foundation subjects, including History, Geography, Art, Design Technology, Music, and Physical Education.
From Year 1, students are introduced to Vietnamese, promoting bilingual skills and cultural awareness. As they progress into Secondary School, they can broaden their language abilities with options to study French and Chinese.
Core Subjects

Our teaching approach follows the English National Curriculum, with regular assessments ensuring each student’s progress is carefully monitored. This allows us to tailor learning experiences to meet individual needs and maximise academic growth.
At ABCIS, we believe in fostering a love of learning while developing essential life skills, setting our students on the path to success in further education and beyond

In English lessons, children focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing for pleasure. Our students are immersed in language-rich environments and use existing texts and language to develop their own skills and compositions

Within Mathematics lessons, students are encouraged to explore their growing abilities across the many areas with a strong emphasis on discussing their methods and applying their skills to real life contexts.

During Science lessons, Our students are encouraged to critically think about the positive and negative effects of scientific advancements and environmental change on all living things.

Our Computing lessons encourage children to use a range of hardware and software packages with confidence and for a specific purpose. A key aspect of the new curriculum will be to also understand how these programs and machines work.
Foundation Subjects

Our additional subjects at school follow an English style education, but use themes and topics that suit our international environment. Through subjects like Topic (KS1) and Humanities (KS2), the children look at the human and physical features of the world, as well as looking at important events throughout history and how the world has changed.
We also study many creative topics through Art and Design Technology and our students will investigate objects, materials and then learn to work creatively and imaginatively. We are also fortunate to have specialist teachers who provide weekly lessons in Music, Physical Education, Swimming and Vietnamese (Years 1-6).
Central to our education is the development of our students personal and social skills to know themselves and relate positively to those around them. This comes from a planned PSHE curriculum as well as as regular opportunities to discuss their feelings and how their actions affect others.
We believe strongly in student leadership and this is developed through our prefect system and also our very active student councils in each key stage. Within these groups, class representatives are chosen by their fellow students and bring forth ideas and initiatives from their classmates to improve the school environment.
