Previous Teaching Experience: Ian has 23 years teaching experience in both Primary and Secondary areas and 13 in management and leadership. He worked at schools in Dublin (Ireland) and South London (UK) for 6 years before arriving in Vietnam. He has held a number of middle and senior management roles throughout his career.
Present Responsibilities: Ian has a broad range of responsibilities within the school which extend from Nursery at the beginning of Primary to Year 13 at the end of Secondary. These include data analysis, reporting and advising about student performance to drive academic improvement, responsibility for child protection, admissions and health and safety management throughout the school, monitoring and advising on improvements in a range of different areas throughout the various key stages. He was the evaluator of evidence for the ABCIS during inspection by UK Department of Education inspectors in 2013, an inspection in which the ABCIS received an “Outstanding” rating as a British School Overseas. Ian has a leading role in the organisation and editing of school promotional materials such as ‘Connect’ magazine. He also teaches History to Year 9, runs the Model United Nations at the ABC international School and is leading the creation of the Parent’s Advisory Group.

Previous Teaching Experience: Amy has 11 years teaching experience in both British and International Schools. She worked in East London and Brunei prior to joining the ABCIS and held the position of Head of Year 8 in her London school.
Present Responsibilities: Amy has worked for The ABCIS for 6 years as a Geography teacher and was formerly Head of Humanities. This year Ms Amy is the Head of Key Stage 3 and is a member of the Green Team Aspects Group.

Previous Teaching Experience: Alun has been teaching Business Studies and Economics for over 10 years in the UK, Thailand, China and Vietnam. He commenced his teaching role after a successful commercial career in the retail and leisure industries. As well as being passionate and enthusiastic teacher Alun is a qualified scuba diving instructor and technical diver.
Present Responsibilities: Alun is the form Tutor for Year 12. He helps run the Model United Nations ECA and is a part of the Vision and Ethos Aspect group

Previous Teaching Experience: Barbara completed teacher training in New Zealand and has 18 years’ experience as a specialist teacher of Accounting, Business Studies and Economics. She has taught in both the public and private sectors of education and was a Head of Department and a Boarding House Director at a leading co-educational school in New Zealand. Barbara also has a wide range of business experience and prior to entering the teaching profession she held management positions with large companies in the UK and owned and operated her own business.

From here she was promoted to Head of History at Westonbirt School, an all girls' boarding school in rural Gloucestershire, where she was further promoted to Head of Sixth Form. She has a total of 16 years teaching experience. She will be involved in helping to organise the Model United Nations in 2016 – 2017

Ben was appointed Head of Geography after 2 years and is passionate about expanding student’s experiences outside the classroom, running successful trips to Iceland and beyond, and setting up a partnership link with a school in Nepal. He is currently offering Homework Club as an extra-curricular activity and is a member of the Sharing Good Practice Aspects Group. He has been teaching for 5 years.

Previous teaching Experience: After working for a short time in the UK hospitality industry, Gavin began teaching and worked for 7 years in 2 of the West Midland’s largest colleges, where he taught A-level and GCSE Business Studies and Economics, before moving into international secondary education. For the last 4 years he has worked in a growing private-sector A-level school in North-Eastern China. During his time there he taught IGCSE and A-level Business Studies and Economics. Gavin is a big believer in inspiring confidence as an essential tool for success; during his time in China he ran the school choir and assisted in the running of the school's dramatic society. He has a total of 11 years experience and is looking forward to more ahead.

She has a tremendous passion for History inside and outside the classroom and is excited about working at the ABCIS.

Head of Mathematics

Previous Teaching Experience: Bruce started teaching in 1985 and has taught for over thirty years in a number of secondary schools in Australia, and more recently at the British School in Jakarta. During this time he has held a variety of positions: Coordinator of Computing, IT and Learning Technologies in two of these schools and also as a year leader. Last year Mr Bruce held the position of Head of Year 10 at the ABCIS. Mr Bruce has also had extensive experience in the Scouting movement and has a great interest in all sports. He is an avid golfer and was formerly a representative hockey player.

Previous Teaching Experience: Steve spent 10 years working in the UK in city comprehensive schools in Cambridge, Derbyshire and Nottingham before moving to the UAE to support educational reform in Abu Dhabi. He then spent 2 years working in local government schools training Principals and Vice Principals in school improvement before moving to the British International School Abu Dhabi as the Head of Academic Studies. He spent three years there helping set up the Secondary school, overseeing the school application to become an IB World School, managing the curriculum, reporting and assessment and the tracking of student progress.
Present Responsibilities: Steve currently teaches Year 12 and 13 Statistics as well as being the Head of Secondary, writing the whole school timetable and managing the Secondary curriculum. He is a member of the Future Directions Aspects group which is investigating how we improve the school’s use of the technological advances available.

Previous Teaching Experience: Paul has worked in two secondary schools in the UK as a Mathematics teacher and has also been Head of Mathematics in two sixth form colleges. In his most recent UK post he was head of a department of 22 teachers, and has vast experience in assisting students with university applications. He has also worked in summer schools in Ethiopia and Tanzania. He is a keen sportsman and has run many different football teams throughout his 23 year teaching career.
Present Responsibilities: Paul’s present responsibilities include guiding students through the university application process to attend universities through the world. He is also a member of the House Aspects Group. Paul is also currently completing a Masters in International Education with the University of Bath.

Previous Teaching Experience: After completing her PGCE in London, Ms. Katie taught at a girls’ comprehensive school for 2 years in West London, where she taught mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4. Ms. Katie then moved to Vietnam to continue her teaching career in an international setting. She has 3 years of teaching experience.
Present Responsibilities: This year Ms. Katie is Head of Year 7 and is a member of the Vision and Ethos Aspects Group. She will also be running a Destress ECA.

Previous Teaching Experience: After completing his teacher training, Cathal moved to a start-up school in Dublin, Ireland which initially started with 400 students and now teaches over 1,000. Cathal was instrumental in developing a curriculum for the Maths Department. After 3 years there Cathal is now moving to the ABC International School to start a new chapter of his life. Cathal has a true love of his subjects and prides himself on his ability to develop strong student relationships. He has 4 years teaching experience.

He is passionate about fostering a sense of independence and responsibility in young people. In addition to his role in the Mathematics Department, he will be coordinating the International Award. His interests outside teaching include motorcycling, hiking and “the great outdoors”. Daniel has 7 years' teaching experience.

Previous teaching Experience: After a research and lecturing post at Newcastle Vincent was an independent consultant before commencing teaching in secondary schools 16 years ago. Since then he has taught in a large Science college near Durham and then posts that took him to France, Switzerland and the Philippines. He has held various positions of responsibility including Head of Pastoral Care and Head of Science.
Present Responsibilities: Vincent is currently Head of Science and teaches Physics for years 10-13 and Chemistry to Year 13. He is a member of the Green Aspects Group and offers an ECA called “Will it fly?”

Previous Teaching Experience: Stephen has over 20 years of teaching experience. He has taught in three different schools in the UK, has leadership experience as a Head of Science in two of them and additionally as an Assistant Headteacher in a large secondary school.

Previous Teaching Experience: Mr. Grant is in his 14th year of teaching having started in Brighton in the UK and has since been teaching in international schools in the Middle-East and Kenya before moving to Vietnam last year. Mr. Grant has taught all three sciences with his specialism being Biology.

Previous Teaching Experience: Andrew has 6 years of teaching experience. Previous to his position at the ABCIS he worked in an independent boy's school in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, and in a large comprehensive school near Peterborough, England. Andrew enjoys a wide range of sports, and has coached a successful school rugby team.

Previous Teaching Experience: Sheryl has been teaching in Secondary schools since 1994 and has held positions of responsibility since 2008. She worked in schools in the UK for 12 years before moving into international teaching and working in an international school in Kazakhstan for 3 years. She then moved to Vietnam and has been working at The ABC International School since 2009.
Present Responsibilities: Sheryl currently teaches Biology and General Science. She runs the popular Secondary Green Team and is a member of the Green Aspects Group.
Science Teacher/ Tutor of Year 10C

Previous Teaching Experience: Christine taught Science for 14 years in three London schools before moving to British International School - Phuket, where she taught Science and IB Chemistry. After 2 years there she got married and moved back to her ancestral roots in Vietnam. She previously taught at BIS Vietnam and the ABCIS for three years before taking time out of teaching to raise a family.
Present Responsibilities: Christine currently teaches Science at KS3 and KS4 as well as Chemistry at KS5. She is a tutor of a Year 10 class, whose welfare and progress she will monitor this year. Christine runs a Scrabble club to encourage and help students widen their vocabulary. She is also a member of the Parent Advisory Group.
English Teacher/ Head of English

Previous Teaching Experience: This is Ms. Emma’s fourth year at the ABCIS as Head of English. Ms. Emma began teaching in London in 2007 and has experience in working in comprehensive schools where she held responsibilities such as Head of Key Stage 4 English. Ms. Emma has a passion for supporting charitable causes and will be running the Services ECA this year which will complement her work in the Services Aspects group with the aim of providing English lessons in local Vietnamese schools in the community.
Present Responsibilities: She has worked at the ABCIS since 2013 but previously was Head of Keystage 4 English at a West London School. During 2015/2016, she will be involved with the running of the Services ECA.
English & Drama / Head of Year 10

Previous Teaching Experience: Hannah has been teaching for twelve years, spending the first eight years in a school in Liverpool, UK before moving to an international school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has experience of being a form tutor and organising extra-curricular activities, and was co-director of the school production while in KL. Working across all three Key Stages throughout her career, she has taught both IB and A-Level curricula in both English Language and Literature, in addition to Drama in Key Stages Three and Four.

Previous Teaching Experience: Isabel has 6 years teaching experience. She completed her PGCE while working at a large co-educational academy in Hull, North East England. She taught here for two years before a further two years at a boys' academy in Central London, where she was Deputy Director of English. She has also taught English as a foreign language to adults and teenagers in the UK, Germany and India.
Present Responsibilities: TThis year Ms. Isabel is running a Production Support ECA and is a member of the Services Aspects Group.
English & Drama Teacher/ Head of Year 8
Qualifications: BA (Hons.) English and Literary Studies, PGCE Secondary English, University of Worcester, UK.
Previous Teaching Experience: Lee began his teaching career in a large secondary school on the outskirts of Birmingham where he taught English, Drama and Music. He then taught English as a Second Language in a private university in Beijing for one year, before moving to Gran Canaria (Spain) eight years ago to teach English Literature and Language from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5. During this time he also taught A Level Philosophy as well as Drama, History and Music throughout the school.
Present Responsibilities: In addition to teaching English to Years 7-13, and Drama at Key Stage 3, Lee is also Head of Year 8. In this position he oversees the roles of four Year 8 tutors, who collectively ensure the pastoral and academic well-being of all Year 8 students. He helps run the School Production ECA and is a member of the Green Team Aspects Group.

Previous Experience: Rebecca has been teaching English, Media and Drama for a total of 8 years in the UK, Vietnam and Thailand. She also held the post of Deputy Head of Year 12 in her final year of teaching in London. She has returned this year to the ABCIS, where she had previously worked for 3 years in the Secondary English Department teaching English and Drama. During this time she also helped to co-direct a number of musical productions within the school. Rebecca is a member of The Green Team Aspects group, and is running the Production ECA.
Music Teacher/ Head of Performing Arts
Qualifications: Bachelor of Music (Hons), University of Wales, Cardiff. GTP Secondary Music, University of Gloucestershire. QTS UK (both Primary and Secondary)
Previous Teaching Experience: Gareth has been involved in music education for over 15 years and has been classroom teaching for 11 years. He started his teaching career as a Secondary Music teacher at Pates Grammar School (UK) where he spent 2 years as Head of KS3 Music and 1 year as acting Head of Music. He went on to splitting his time between teaching across all key stages, eventually leading the music programme for the Gloucester Schools Partnership, which encompassed over 39 primary schools. Gareth was a singing teacher at Cheltenham Senior College as well as a freelance coach for the UK's national ‘Sing Up’ programme for the South West of England.
Present Responsibilities: Gareth will be overseeing all Performance based activities for the school as well as supporting teaching across all five Key Stages. He runs several ECAs linked with Music including the Schools Orchestra. He is currently a member of the Charity and Service Aspect Group.
In May 2015, Gareth was elected onto the FOBISIA’s Executive Committee for Music. Gareth is also the Artistic Director of the International Choir and Orchestra of HCMC.

He has a passion for music and has had experience teaching successful rock bands, Jazz/Funk bands, choirs, and percussion groups as well as putting together musical productions. His interest in music extends well beyond his professional life as he has been part of rock bands and covers groups performing the local circuit.

Art & Design Teacher/ Tutor of 11B

Previous Teaching Experience: Blue has been teaching Art and Design for 15 years and taught at a British International School in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Prior to this she taught at a number of locations within the UK. During the 15 years of teaching, she has managed several departments and taught numerous Art specialist areas including fine art, sculpture, photography, textiles and printing. In addition to teaching Art she has also taught Design and Technology and Citizenship.
Present Responsibilities: Blue currently teaches Years 8-13 Art and Design. She also runs the Basic British Sign Language and an IGCSE Art and Design ECAs. Blue is the chairperson for the Yearbook Aspects Group.
Design Teachnology & Art/ Tutor of 11D

Previous Teaching Experience: David has eight years of teaching experience at a secondary school in Birmingham, England. He taught Design Technology from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5 and has also taught a range of other subjects including Art at Key Stage 3.

Previous Teaching Experience: Lee has seven years of teaching experience and has worked at large secondary schools in Hampshire and Northamptonshire where he taught ICT and Computing. Over this time he has gained significant experience in curriculum development and in pastoral areas.
Present Responsibilities: Lee is the current head of ICT & Computer Science and teaches Key Stages 3,4, and 5. He is also the chair of the Future Directions Aspect Group and runs the Roleplaying Games club for Year 9 to Year 13.

Previous Teaching Experience: After completing his teacher training in the North of England, Mr. Kevin spent 5 months teaching EFL with Apollo in Hai Phong, Vietnam. On completion of that job Mr. Kevin took up an international post teaching Computing and ICT in Indonesia at the New Zealand Independent School. He has 4 years teaching experience.
Present Responsibilities: Alongside his role as an ICT teacher, he is also a Year 9 tutor. Kevin is the chairperson of the Green Team Aspects Group and runs the Retro-Gaming ECA.

Previous Teaching Experience: After completing his PGCE in 2012, Mark began teaching in a new start up school in Hammersmith, Central London where he taught ICT and Computing to Key Stages 3 to 5. After three successful years in England, he made the move to Vietnam and has been teaching ICT and Computing at ABCIS for the past year.
Present Responsibilities: Alongside his role as an ICT teacher, he is also a Year 10 tutor. Mark is a member of the House Aspects group during this academic year and will also be involved in running the senior boys football ECA and computing Club.
Head of PE Dept./ PE Teacher

Previous Teaching Experience: Dan began his teaching career at a Specialist Sports College in Blackpool, UK. After two successful years in the North West of England, he made the move into international teaching when appointed Head of Department at a British curriculum school in Shanghai, China. After nine years coordinating the Physical Education curriculum and ECAs programme for his school in China, he made the move to Vietnam where he has been teaching at the ABCIS for four years.
Present Responsibilities: Dan currently teaches Physical Education and Swimming in the Secondary school at the ABCIS, including the IGCSE examination course. He is responsible for all aspects of the PE curriculum and its further development. In addition, Dan serves as a member of the School Ethos and Vision Aspects Group, coordinates the school’s sports fixtures within HCMC or internationally and is Vice President on the Saigon International Schools Athletics Conference Executive Committee (SISAC). He will also be coaching boys Basketball and Volleyball again this year, aiming for a fifth City Championship win in what will be five years at the ABCIS.
PE Teacher/ Head of Year 11
Qualifications: B.Sc. Sports Development, University of Portsmouth. PGCE (QTS), University of Chichester.
Previous Teaching Experience: Natasha has 9 years teaching experience in secondary education across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. She began her career at an Academy in South East London teaching Physical Education. During the last 3 years there, she also held the post of Progress Leader, responsible for the pastoral care of students across all year groups. This is her fourth year at the ABCIS, which was her first international teaching post. She has previously held the post of Head of Year 9, 10 and 11. In addition, has taught PE from KS2 through to the examination courses at IGSCE and A Level.
Present Responsibilities: Natasha is the Head of Year 11 and a member of the House Aspect Group. In addition, she runs the Under 14 and 19 Girls Basketball Teams and the Under 14 and 19 Girls Football Teams.
PE Teacher / Tutor of 7R/ Primary House Coordinator
Qualifications: B.A. (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching, Northumbria University, UK. PGCE Primary Teaching, Institute of Education, London, UK.
Previous Teaching Experience: Robert has several years of teaching experience. He was the Head of PE at Livingston American School, Shanghai. He developed the whole school PE curriculum and was responsible for all Primary and Middle School Athletics, as well as creating and implementing the House System. Robert has coached a number of different sports including football, volleyball, basketball and athletics, and has previously worked as Aquatic Director at Shanghai Rego International School. He is a keen triathlete and football player, and is passionate about promoting sports and healthy lifestyles
Present Responsibilities: This year Robert will be teaching PE and Swimming from Reception class up to Year 7. He is responsible for the Reception and Key Stage 1 PE curriculum as well as developing the whole school swimming scheme. He is the coach of the U11's Boys Basketball team as well as coaching both the Primary and Secondary School Swimming Teams. Robert is also the Primary House Coordinator and chair of the House Aspects Group.

Previous teaching Experience: Narsisa taught for 5 years at Queen's Gate School, an independent all-girls school in South Kensington, London. She then moved to Qatar and taught at Sherborne Qatar School for 2 years. Narsisa is an enthusiastic teacher who is keen to develop a positive attitude towards Physical Education. Her aim is to promote healthy and active lifestyles and to allow all children to shine in activities in and outside of the classroom.
Present responsibilities: Narsisa is a member of the House Aspects Group and is running Football, Basketball and Fitness Extra-Curricular activities.

French Teacher, Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Previous Teaching Experience: Antoine is an enthusiastic teacher with 8 years of teaching experience in London. He has taught French from Y7 to Y13, German and Spanish up to GCSE level. He also recently taught Spanish at Primary level. Antoine led an MFL department for 2 years and he also enjoyed training new teachers over the past 4 years. He is a fervent believer that languages are the best way to deepen our understanding of other people and societies and has sought to stimulate his students' interest and broaden their horizons. Antoine is a member of the Green Team Aspects group and runs the ABCIS Secondary Table Tennis Club every Tuesday.
French Teacher/ Tutor of 8W

Previous Teaching Experience: Warren has over a dozen years teaching experience across a range of age groups in both Primary and Secondary. He worked at schools in London and Dorchester (England) and in Athens (Greece), teaching Years 5 and 6 as well as Secondary French and P.E. While working in London Warren held the post of P.E. Coordinator. Warren lived and worked in France before moving to Vietnam 8 years ago.
Present Responsibilities: Warren is in his sixth year at the ABCIS. He has previously taught Year 5 and Year 6 and this year will again be teaching French to KS2, KS3 and KS4 pupils. Warren is a Year 8 form tutor. He runs a tennis club for Key Stage 3 and 4 students and is a member of the House Aspects group.
Mandarin Teacher/ Tutor of 9J / Secondary House Coordinator
Qualifications: B.A(Hons) in Teaching Mandarin Chinese as a Second Language - Hunan University of Science and Technology, China; PGCEi, Keele University, UK
Previous Teaching Experience: After gaining her teaching qualification at Hunan University of Science and Technology, Julia took the opportunity of taking part in a volunteer teaching program in Thailand in 2009 and spent two years teaching Years 5-10 in a Thai public school. In April 2011, Julia started teaching Years 1-9 in an International School in Bangkok and taught there for two years. Julia has been working for the ABCIS for 3 years and has been teaching for 7 years.
Present Responsibilities: In addition to teaching Mandarin Chinese from Year 8 to Year12, Julia is also the form tutor of 9J and Secondary House Coordinator. She runs a AS Chinese Club for students in Year 11, and is a member of the House Activity Aspects Group.

Previous Teaching Experience:Stacey has more than twelve years’ experience teaching both English and Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan, Vietnam and New Zealand. She has previously taught Key Stages 1 and 2 as well as Secondary Mandarin Chinese.
Present Responsibilities: Stacey is teaching Mandarin Chinese to KS3 and KS4 pupils and is a Year 7 form tutor. She runs a Chinese painting club for KS3 students and is a member of the Green Team Aspects Group.
Head of EIP and EAL
Qualifications: Bsc in Social Science, Bradford University , PGCE Primary Education, Bradford University 
Previous Teaching Experience: Jim has 21 years of teaching experience in both Primary and Middle Schools. Before joining the school in 2001, Jim worked in London and New Zealand. In his time at the school Jim has been a class teacher for Years 4- 6 and previously was Head of Upper Primary.
Present Responsibilities: Jim is presently Head of EAL throughout all areas of the school as well as coordinating the English Immersion Program in Upper Primary. Jim does some teaching with both EIP classes and also Year 4. He is the Senior Management member on the ‘Service and Charity ‘Aspects group. Jim helps coach the Boys Primary Football team as part of our ECA programme.
EAL Teacher/ Tutor of 11E
Qualifications: BA (Hons) Modern Foreign Languages (German and French), University of Central Lancashire, Preston UK. PGCE Modern Foreign Languages (German and French), University of Sunderland UK. Certification to teach English as Foreign Language.
Previous Teaching Experience: Emma started teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Poland in 2000 and then in Japan and Germany. After returning to the UK to teach German and French she then moved to Kuwait to teach French, German and English. Later she worked in Fujairah, UAE which was followed by another career opportunity to teach French, German and Travel & Tourism in Al Ain, UAE, where she held the positions of Head of the House System and Head of Extra-Curricular Activities.
Present Responsibilities:Emma currently teaches EAL in the secondary school and runs a German Language Club for students in Years 7 – 13. She is now a member of the House Aspects Group.
EAL and EIP Teacher
Qualifications: CELTA, BA (Hons) English with Creative studies, PGCE (Secondary English), Bath Spa University, QTS, HND Business and Finance, Greenwich University (UK)
Previous Teaching Experience: Alastair has been teaching for 9 years. After careers in bookselling, finance and corporate training Mr. Alastair began his teaching career by working in an EFL school in Hangzhou, China. After a year he realised that he loved teaching and intended to dedicate the rest of his working life to it; so he returned to the UK and studied for his PGCE and gained QTS teaching English at a Secondary School in Swindon. He then returned to China and taught EAL in a school in Rui'an where he became Senior Teacher and Assistant Director of Studies. This led him to a position teaching for the British Council in Bangkok where he specialised in young learner and teen classes. Mr. Alastair then moved from the British Council to an International School in Bangkok where he spent two years teaching Secondary English before moving to Vietnam and the ABCIS.
Present Responsibilities: Alastair is responsible for teaching the English Immersion Programme for Years 5 and 6 and is also providing EAL support to Years 4, 5 and 6. He is a member of the Vision and Ethos Aspects Group and is running a Dungeons and Dragons ECA.
Qualifications: BA (Hons) English and European Studies, Edge Hill University, Lancashire, UK.
Previous Experience: Tracey has 13 years experience as a Secondary School Librarian in the North of England. She is also the school’s Literacy Coordinator which includes activities like; organising reading promotional days, teaching students who require literacy intervention, running a journalists club, a book club and a comic creator’s club as extra-curricular activities. She has also been involved with residential trips run by the History Department.
Present Responsibilities: Tracey currently runs a Fiction Addiction ECA for secondary students and provides support for EAL and EIP students.
